I've never been a solid concert-goer. It's not that I don't like the arts. I do. As a matter of fact, I love to dance (until today) and I was even the president of the Glee Club when I was in highschool! :) The only thing that I can think of that prevents me to go to concerts is probably the hassle of swimming through a crowd of excited fans.
Until recently, a TVC of an international show caught my eye and even SJ's. Both of us agreed to catch one of their limited performances in the Philippines. The group is not categorized under mainstream artists but I am quite sure those who frequent the cinema (like us) know who they are.

When we learned that Stomp, the Broadway and West End Sensation, will be performing at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), SJ and I were constantly talking about it. After seeing them countless times in movie houses, finally we'll be seeing them play and dance live. Using unconventional instruments to make up ear-easy noises, we were looking forward to a one-of-a-kind show. We were more than eager to "see what all the noise is about." Needless to say, we were as excited as any fan could be.

Casually meeting friends at Stomp '11
Expectations not fulfilled, but exceeded! That's how SJ and I felt after the show. The group not only amazed the two of us but the audience as a whole. Can u imagine using plastic and paper bags, newspapers, brooms, old tires and rubber tubes to make music? We were awed when they used lighters (yes, the small device you use to lit cigarettes) to make a rhythmic sound in tempo with the flame.. it's like seeing a strand of running Christmas lights. It was also very interesting how they included the part for audience participation. I noticed not only the young ones clapped and stomped back, but also those who seem like my mom and dad. It was truly a show that every member of the family will love.
It was also a great delight, most especially to SJ, that we got to meet some of those who made Stomp '11 a great, great show! Of course, SJ wouldn't let the chance pass by without getting their autographs and some photo opps. :)

It was truly a show worth watching. If they would be coming over for the second time, I'm quite sure SJ and I will be the first ones to buy tickets to get the best seats. And hopefully we could bring along JF and SI the next time around.
