Weekends are especially great to bond with your kids. JF and I anticipated this Halloween weekend for so long. Aside from the fact that the government declared it as a 4-day long weekend, we look forward to dressing up the kiddos in their Halloween costumes.
We initially decided to go to Cirque du Rockwell with the kids. However, an officemate of my sis-in-law earlier called her up that tickets were all sold-out! Looking through all the trick-or-treat options, we then decided to go to Bonifacio High Street's event, Once upon a Halloween.

We arrived 30 minutes earlier than the 3pm official start of the event. I even joked SJ that they might look weird since they were the only kids wearing costumes. We were surprised, however, that the reason why there were no dressed-up kids seen at the parking lot was because most of them were already lined up to claim their loot bags! Congratulations to the BHS organizer, the event was truly a success.

JF and I together with my brother and sis-in-law decided that we don't want to go through the hassle of lining up. This meant that we were not able to get the loot bags for the kids but since we are "boy scouts," we brought along trick-or-treat pails already filled with candies. We already thought beforehand if in case the kids won't get treats, the pails we prepared would make them feel good. True enough these came in handy :) Being the only big kid, SJ was the persistent one to go trick-or-treating despite the commotion created by kids running here and there. Perhaps she's used to this hurly-burly just like in school.

While SJ was busy going from store-to-store and playing at Timezone, JF and I together with SI went inside Bo's to rest for a while. JF took advantage of the opportunity for a father-daughter bonding.

Considering the distance we traveled from our house to BHS and that we were not able to do what we initially planned, you might think it was such a waste of time, effort and gasoline. But, we didn't see it that way. We just enjoyed every minute we spent with the kids this Halloween weekend. We have to wait another year to dress-up our kiddos again. I just hope SJ would still choose to go trick-or-treating by then (she's growing up really fast!). And there's one IMPORTANT lesson learned this Halloween: We have to make it a point to be early; either in buying tickets or in lining up to register. Nevertheless, it was definitely a Happy Halloween for us!
