Affordable Comfort Food at Silver Crown Food Center

When you crave for authentic Chinese food, you might immediately think of going to Ongpin in Chinatown. It is just fortunate that for those living in the CaMaNaVa area, you don't need to take the LRT in Monumento in order to reach the Chinese food haven located in the City of Manila.

If you are coming from Sangandaan, Caloocan City going to Monumento, be on the lookout for a BPI Branch on the left.  Beside that branch stands a restaurant that will give any Ongpin restaurant a run for their money.

Silver Crown Food Center is just like your typical Chinese restaurant in terms of interior set-up. If you would like a fine dining experience, this is not the restaurant for you. It's more like a cafeteria set-up with several tables arranged side-by-side. During weekends, you might find yourself waiting for a table since this is a frequent reception place for baptism. It would be better if you'll dine in earlier or you'll just order and take them home.

According to JF, the dishes at SC is his comfort food. Why? It is because the food is super delicious and always served warm, meaning, it has just been cooked. Secondly, the food would never fail to make him feel good if ever he's in a grumpy mood. And lastly, the price is very affordable. I swear your 1,000 pesos would definitely go a long way! I remember this was our after-jogging restaurant when we were still bf-gf, thereby, making our workout useless. Ha ha!

Today, since it is SI's 5th month, we placed our orders via phone and picked them up right on time.  I guess that would be the best and hassle-free way to have a taste of those mouth-watering Chinese dishes from SC.  Below are our menu for today:

Author's and SJ's pick: Pancit Canton

Crab Omellete in Sweet and Sour Sauce

Spring Rolls

JF's and SJ's pick: Fried Chicken

For those watching cholesterol: Chopsuey

Our total bill: 780 pesos only! That includes 2 orders of Crab Omellete, 2 orders of Spring Rolls, 2 orders of Pancit Canton, an order of Chopsuey and 1 whole Fried Chicken. This set was able to feed 10 adults and 1 child! Left with 220 pesos in our pockets, we bought bananas and Cokes to complete the ensemble.

It is truly comforting each time we have SC dishes not only for the tasty experience but knowing that our money went a long, long way. In case you want to try out what SC offers, contact info are as follows:
